Here is just a small excerpt from “The Trial” portion of the book. Hope you enjoy it.
A long, loud blast of the trumpet rang throughout the mountains of God. Massive doors began to open wide, permitting the mighty call to echo off the great halls of Heaven. Angels of every order, rank, and kind quickly flew from every direction and took their assigned places as they encircled above and beside and before the throne of God. A thing of such beauty and precision to behold.
Both Old Testament and New Testament saints alike gathered from across the grand expanse of the Heavenlies, immediately filling the gallery. The atmosphere trembles with anxious anticipation. The 24 elders enter and respectfully take their seats of honor. Those in various positions of authority take their places. The four living creatures hover overhead, keeping perfect watch over the vastness stretching to the heights and widths of Heaven.
All have gathered. Everyone has assembled. The court is seated. The Ancient of Days, the God of all Heaven and earth, enters and takes His place upon the mighty throne of fire, clothed in radiant light.
The sound of the gavel falls!
“Court is now in session.” The words sounding as if a mighty trumpet, are heard from somewhere, from everywhere, totally immersing the surroundings, but from no particular location.
Movement ceases. Whispers end. Silence is the only thing that can be heard, but the loudness of it is exceedingly great. Even with no measurement of time in Heaven, moments of silence such as these still bring acute awareness of a period of great significance.
All eyes turn toward the entrance as gentle beams of light begin to grow and lengthen across the floor, revealing the silhouette of a man. The one whom all were waiting. The one on trial. The defendant. Jesus, the very Son of God.
He slowly walks into the courtroom…alone. Ever so quietly and solemnly, he takes his place in the center of the room. He stands before the place of Judgment, and in the place of Judgment, in perfect view for all to see. For each to decide for themselves on his quilt or innocence as expressed and lived out in their own individual life.
This day was destined to eventually take place. It had finally arrived after the history of the world, after the “Last days”, after the seven years of Tribulation, after the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble”. After the gathering of all the nations for the battle of Armageddon. And even after Satan’s own humiliating thousand years of bondage in locks and chains in the deep chamber of Hades, followed by his short release, proving only that the heart of man is and always has been wicked.
Satan could hardly be blamed for all of man’s sins. Much of it was due to their own evil intentions and wicked hearts. However, he would gladly take the credit.
As Satan steps out from the shadows, his eyes burn with pride. He recalls vivid images in his mind of how he had worked hard to turn hearts away from God during the last days, knowing that his time was short. Even many of the “so-called Christians” deflected and denied their faith. He remembered having a heyday during the “great apostasy”. The true sinful nature of man on full demonstration, revealing its worst. His experience with men had always been profitable. They easily join forces with him in rebellion. It actually took very little persuasion.
He also recounted the many battles that he had won against God during his reign on earth. Satan recalled being so close to overall victory many times. Today would surely be the day, he thought! He had stored up hatred and vengeance since his great fall from Heaven, and even more so since that day of his Judgment, his own trial. That day so long ago when he accused God of sin. That day when he challenged God to defend himself for his role in creating sin and allowing sin to control and dominate.
There was no getting around it. God was just as guilty as he was of causing pain and suffering upon the earth. And he knew that he could prove it. He had volumes of books filled with documents of evidence that could not be denied. He had plenty of people who had questioned God themselves because they had experienced tribulations and tragedies in their lives. He had endless stories of people who had cried out to God for help from hardship and misery… but all to no avail.
Satan knew he was a smooth talker, skillful in twisting the truth, an expert in manipulation. He was keenly aware of his eloquent and irresistible charisma. He used it well. Ever since the Garden of Eden, he has been honing his craft of influence and deception. This last and final showdown, this challenge would prove to the world his power and give him everything that he deserved. He was ready to have his day in court. He was ready to overthrow the throne of Heaven and earth and become king of all, become god. He had worked hard to get to this point, to bring the Almighty God to trial. He was ready to attack the jugular for the win!
