FIRST THINGS FIRST!
Don’t Miss the Blessings!
Yes… BLESSINGS in the book of Revelation!
The first thing that we think of when it comes to the book of Revelation are the strange visions, judgements, the wrath of God, scary beasts, destruction, devastation, and images that are hard to imagine or understand the meaning. Of course, there are those things… but what I want you to think on and look for are the “Blessings“.
DON’T MISS THE BLESSINGS”!
In the Sermon on the Mount, found in the book of Matthew, Jesus preached the “BLESSINGS”, also known as the “Beatitudes”, to the mass of people who were sitting on the mountainside. This is considered to be his greatest Sermon. In the book of Revelation you can find another set of “Blessings”. These are some of the greatest words of Christ as well, especially considering that these are some of the last words that Jesus spoke. These are a little different, however, than the Beatitudes that you are probably more familiar, but just as important. These seem to be given for a specific purpose, to encourage the Believers to remain faithful and persevere to the end. Within them are also found unspoken messages:
Tribulation is coming! But don’t miss the Blessings!
Persecution is coming! But don’t miss the Blessings!
Fear is coming! But don’t miss the Blessings!
These beautiful Blessings are to remind the Believers that their hope is in Christ and nothing else. God is in complete control. It will all be worth it in the end. Don’t give up! Just read the Revelation Blessings below.
- Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it because the time is near. (1:3)
- Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. (14:13)
- Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed. (16:15)
- Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! (19:9)
- Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them… (20:6)
- Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book. (22:7)
- Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. (22:14)
What do we have to look forward to? Oh, there is so much! Just read the Bible with your focus on the blessings and on the hope yet to come. If you look for them you will find them everywhere. God’s blessings are abundant! They are too numerous to count. Just read through the list below. This list is a few of the abundant promises just in the last couple of chapters of the book of Revelation! Don’t lose sight of the future. Don’t lose sight of the hope! Don’t miss the blessings!
- We will dwell with Christ
- We will receive a new Resurrected body
- There will be a new Heaven and Earth
- All tears will be wiped away
- The Water of Life will flow
- The Tree of Life will provide
- We will see God’s full Glory
- There will be no more sin
- There will be no more darkness
- There will be no more curse
- We will wear robes of pure white
- All wrongs will be made right
- Death will be destroyed
- Satan will be cast down
- We will experience life forever and ever with the One who saved our souls, paid our debt and removed our sin
Can you say “Halleluiah”?
The 7 Blessings written for us in the book of Revelation are there to encourage us to keep our eyes on Jesus to the very end. Do not look to the things that we can see in front of us, our present circumstance. Yes, life is hard. Troubles and tribulation are all around. Pain and suffering will be experienced. Evil will abound. But there is something so much better and greater ahead. Stay faithful. Stay strong. Don’t lose sight that Jesus is “Coming” back! And he is the greatest BLESSING of all!
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him “Come” and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life…. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. “Come”, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” (Rev 22:17-21)
And so, with uplifted heart, I say, “Yes, Come! Lord Jesus, Come!”
Dear friend, if you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can put your faith in him today. And all of these things will be added unto you. Jesus has his arms open wide to receive you today. He loves you and wants to spend eternity with you. He is speaking to you saying, “Come“! Will you come to him today?
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
